Anna Casem, MPT, Clinic Director

Anna has been practicing physical therapy for 15 years in an outpatient setting. She graduated from California State University, Fresno with a Master’s Degree in physical therapy. She is a clinical instructor for the physical therapy programs of several universities. She has taken continuing education courses in strain-counterstrain, kinesiotaping, modalities, upper and lower extremity physical therapy examination and treatment, cervical and lumbar spine physical therapy examination and treatment, and use of rehabilitative modalities, and she speaks Spanish. She participated in many years of competitive swimming throughout her life and has completed two marathons. Her children are now very involved in competitive dance and swimming.

Janki Patel, PT, DPT

Janki is a Bay Area native and graduated from UC Davis for her bachelor’s degree. Prior to immersing herself in physical therapy, she worked in biopharmaceutical manufacturing. She then went on to Regis University for her physical therapy degree. She completed clinical affiliations in inpatient acute care, pediatric rehabilitation, and outpatient orthopedic settings, including some in rural areas of Colorado. Janki believes in treating the whole person (cura personalis) and enjoys teaching patients healthy lifestyle habits in order to take charge of their physical and mental well-being. Some of Janki’s professional interests include pediatrics, orthopedics, and neurologic rehabilitation. She also aided in completing research in physical therapy care with acute spinal cord injury patients during her time at Regis. In spare time, she enjoys cooking, hiking, painting, and cheering for the Warriors.

Priscilla Joy Sabangan-Luna, PTA, RPT

Priscilla Luna moved to San Jose, California from The Philippines. She studied Physical Therapy at De Las Salle University where she obtained her BS and proceeded to work in a fast, upscale community, assuring client delectation working with the elderly. She worked as a Physical Therapist in a royal hospital in Saudi Arabia for 3 years. She started her career with RehabCare for 2 years before she got the opportunity at Physical rehabilitation network sports therapy clinic. In her free time, she enjoys traveling. She also helps the community by adopting a child with Food For The Hungry with her husband. Appreciative with what she has learned, she makes sure her patients are well educated with their current ailments as there is no single process or cookie cutter approach that works for everyone, and is more individual in nature.

Penelope Gatton, PTA

Penelope graduated with honors in 2014 from Pima Medical Institute in Las Vegas with an O.A.S for Physical Therapy Assistant. During school she interned in vestibular specialty, hospital and V.A. Health clinics. Penelope’s professional interests include: sports medicine, manual therapy, yoga therapy, balance and gait recovery, and incorporating physical and mindfulness therapies for chronic pain. She lives in the Santa Cruz mountains, and on her days off she can be found hiking, or at the beach with her dogs.

Mari Mendizabal, PTA

Mari Mendizabal graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology in 2014. She then went on to obtain her Physical Therapist Assistant degree from Ohlone College in 2017. While completing her undergraduate degree, Mari competed on San Francisco State’s soccer team. Her path as a PTA became clear as she witnessed her friends experience career ending injuries. During her PTA program Mari discovered that each patient was their own version of an elite athlete, whether it is a mother getting back to playing with her child or a teenager learning how to walk again after an accident.  Mari uses different techniques such as cupping, instrument assist soft tissue mobilization and blood flow restrictive training to increase mobility and strength. Mari continues to play soccer and other outdoor activities, like quidditch, in her free time.
